Just listened to episode 104 and wanted to let you know that a Harry Potter wand as a remote control already exists. Last week I was in a Barnes & Noble when I spotted one:
http://www.harrypottershop.com/product/harry+potter+remote+control+wand+by+noble+collection+hpnbwandlurc.do?ref=CAFRGL&CAWELAID=530009540000000976&gclid=CJ-SltOd7dICFUlNfgodd9IJQQ
The one I saw is IR only, but I agree it would be fun if they offered one with integration into Smart Things and other home automation systems. Imagine turning lights, a coffee pot, sprinklers, etc with a command and gesture from the wand!
Anyway, thanks for the podcast and I appreciate you sharing your real-life experiences with some of these products. Always informative and helpful.
Holy Moses! This is so cool. I know just the device I want to pair it to. Now to sneak the purchase in.
